The RGEI department provide training and guidance to all research-active members of the King’s community on topics related to research governance, ethics, and integrity. The Centre for Research Staff Development (CRSD) provides professional development support for research staff to achieve their potential, before, during and after their time at King’s, with active support from the most senior staff in the university.
KCTU offers researchers a multidisciplinary mix-and-match collaboration model to deliver high quality clinical trials and observational studies.

The King’s Trial Operations Network offers peer support and training for trial staff within King’s Health Partners. Events are held every six weeks, covering key aspects of clinical trial delivery. The following training opportunities are available to all by external providers e.g. Health Research Authority (HRA), National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) etc.
The Health Research Authority (HRA) offers eLearning courses on:
- Research involving participants lacking mental capacity
- Research involving exposure to ionising radiation
- Research involving human tissue
The NIHR RDN provides a range of training courses, including:
- Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Informed Consent: Sessions on GCP and informed consent for adults lacking capacity, children, and diverse communities.
- Research Delivery Training: Includes sessions on site file management and archiving.
- Leadership Training: Programmes to develop leadership skills in clinical research.
The RSS supports researchers at any stage of their career to develop competitive funding applications for health, public health and social care research. They operate as a national service allowing researchers to access the most appropriate support, irrespective of location. The service is delivered through 8 RSS Hubs, each a partnership of research organisations, groups and clinical trials units. Each Hub offers a wide range of research support and methods expertise. In addition, the RSS has Specialist Centres with expertise in public health and social care research.
