Across King’s Health Partners, it has been recognised that the ability to support the research workforce and those who work with them across our sites; helping them to conduct world-class research, and facilitate their research, has been significantly hampered by an absence of a coordinated function that would rapidly process the administrative elements of joint research. Furthermore, national policy drivers have highlighted the need for research efficiency to attract industry and other global partner collaborations with UK-based HEIs and NHS Organisations.
To address this deficiency, King’s College London (KCL) and Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT) forged a partnership and established the Joint Research Office (JRO) to enhance the initiation and delivery of translational and clinical research. To learn more about these two innovative and forward-thinking organisations please visit King’s College London’s website and Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.
The JRO is nested within KCL’s Research Management and Innovation Directorate (RMID) and GSTT Research and Development (R&D) Directorate. However, the JRO remains organisationally agnostic in terms of its leadership and day-to-day operations.
